Family Worship

Worship is central to our life together here at Evangelical Pres. Our family-oriented service of Worship is a time of praise, prayer, and preaching. The music is a blend of old and new, using a variety of instruments, and singing songs that are full of theological truth, turn our hearts and minds towards God, and lift up Jesus Christ. Sermons are sometimes topical and other times teach through books of the Bible from beginning to end.

With our 6-12 years old in mind, we alternate every Sunday between having Kids’ Sermons during the Service and inviting these young worshipers to their own age-appropriate “Kids’ Worship” Service next door in The Manse (the white porch-fronted house next to the church; 308 Broad Street).

A Nursery is available for children ages 1 through 5.

Join us for Family Worship each Sunday from 10:30-11:45am.

Sunday School

Almighty God wants all His children to draw closer to Him through His Word, the Bible, as He brings it alive to each of us by the Holy Spirit. Whether children, teens, or adults: Come and learn what the Lord has to say about how to live the life He has planned for us! Grow and become all that God has created you to be. God is calling, it’s up to us to respond.

Classes are available for most ages in various rooms around the church building and Manse each Sunday morning from 9:15-10:15am.

Small Group Studies

Monday Night Bible Study – Studying the books and great themes of the Bible, this study is led by retired pastor Roger Casey and meets in The Manse (the white porch-fronted house next to the church; 308 Broad Street) Monday nights from 7:00-8:30pm.
Women’s 1st & 3rd Thursday Bible Study Luncheon – Bring your Bible and a sandwich and join the ladies of the church to catch-up, pray, and study the Bible together. Drinks and dessert are provided. This Study-Luncheon meets in Fellowship Hall the first and third Thursdays of each month from 12:00noon-2:00pm.
Men’s Saturday Morning Bible Study – This study is in its tenth year of reading the Bible chapter by chapter, week by week. And we still have a way to go! For the most part, we simply read and discuss the Bible, not using any outside study materials. Join us as we learn together, grow together, and discover new insights in this ancient and remarkable text. Truly it is the Word of God! Bring your Bible. The study meets upstairs in the church building at the end of the hall (C24) every Saturday from 8:30-10:00am.

 Community Care

Over and over again the Bible urges Christians to help the poor and the suffering. (For instance, Proverbs 14:31 says, “Those who oppress the poor insult their Maker, but helping the poor honors him.” Proverbs 19:17 says, “If you help the poor, you are lending to the Lord—and he will repay you!” And Proverbs 31:9 says, “Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice.”) Jesus Christ, Himself, while on the earth strove to show God’s compassion by meeting the physical and spiritual needs of those who were hurting and helpless around Him.

Just as Jesus did, we believe it is our calling to help those who are suffering. Whether giving food, helping pay a bill, meeting someone where they are, as well as sharing the good news about Jesus with compassion: It all reflects God’s heart. Because ours is a team-approach, we are able to look into the needs of our neighbors and those around us with prayer, discernment, wisdom and each others counsel in an attempt to best help a particular person with a particular need.

Community Care offers free material help, emergency counseling, and spiritual guidance, as we share the gospel of Jesus Christ. We also coordinate with our ministry partner, The Salvation Army, and are their ministry-representatives in Pike County. All are welcome.

Prayer

Every Other Thursday Prayer Meetings – Like a waterfall that continually brings freshness and a boiler-room that powers all its many systems, prayer is the beating-heart of our congregation: The more we pray the stronger and more filled with life we are.

In our prayer meetings we trust the Lord Jesus is present with us by the Holy Spirit, leading us to pray all that’s on the Father’s heart for His people and the world. Sometimes there is much silence and it’s clear the Spirit is praying for us with groans as we struggle to find words. Other times prayers are offered continually one after the other: A steady stream of praises, thanksgivings, intercessions, and confessions of sin.

We meet as a congregation to pray every other Thursday evening from 7:00-8:00pm or so in our Fellowship Hall. All are wanted and welcome.

Request Prayer – Do you or someone you know need the Lord: His help, His direction, His comfort, His grace? You may:

1) Post your requests on our “How May We Pray for You” Facebook page;

2) Send us a Private Message on our church Facebook page; or,

3) Email us. Contact EPC

All requests for prayer will be kept strictly confidential and shared only with our Prayer Ministry Team. Our team will diligently pray for your requested needs.

If you would like someone to pray for you personally, or if you have any questions about prayer, please call the Church Office at 570-296-4711. Our secretary is available Monday through Fridays from 9:30am to 12:30pm and our pastor is often available, as well. If no one is able to answer your call personally, please leave a message.
